“The more he kills, the more he transcends.”
Last night was a big one here on Bloody Disgusting, with Blumhouse and Universal debuting the full official trailer for one of the most hotly anticipated movies in years, Halloween Kills.
David Gordon Green‘s sequel slashes its way into theaters on October 15, and the trailer picks up right where Gordon Green left us back in 2018. Of course, Michael Myers survives the fiery blaze that the Strode trio were sure would bring an end to his reign of terror once and for all, emerging from the blaze and brutally slaying the firefighters tasked with putting it out.
From there we catch back up with Laurie Strode at the hospital, a location she seems destined to find herself in Halloween part twos. As Michael cuts a bloody swath of terror through Haddonfield, Laurie is as determined as ever to stop him, and this time around she’s got the whole town of Haddonfield on her side. Including survivors of Michael’s *original* massacre.
Anthony Michael Hall stars in the new film as Tommy Doyle, with the returning Kyle Richards as Lindsey Wallace, and both characters make brief appearances in the brand new trailer. For once, the entire town of Haddonfield is completely and fully on Laurie’s side in Halloween Kills, and if the trailer is any indication, well, many of the residents won’t make it to next Halloween.
While one could argue that the trailer shows a bit *too much*, we have to keep in mind that Halloween Kills was delayed for an entire year due to the pandemic, a delay that killed all marketing momentum the film had been building up. This trailer was clearly designed to hit that release valve and get us all excited again, and I’d say the goal was accomplished.
