‘Resident Evil 7: Biohazard’ Clears 10 Million Units Sold Worldwide

Are you one of the few people who hasn’t snagged Resident Evil 7 yet? That number is getting smaller, as Capcom has announced that their return to form for the Resident Evil series has now sold 10 million units worldwide.

“Released in January 2017, Resident Evil 7 biohazard builds upon the series’ roots of fear, exploration and tense atmosphere,” explains Capcom in their news release. “The game’s system underwent a dramatic shift from its previous third-person camera to a new first-person perspective in order to provide an overwhelming, deeply immersive horror experience, garnering high praise from major review sites and other media.”

Subsequently, Japanese Switch owners have been enjoying a cloud-based version since May 2018, while the Stadia version was released earlier this year in April.

In case you’re curious, even with the milestone, Resident Evil 7 is still firmly in second place in Capcom’s “Platinum Titles” list behind Monster Hunter: World. The next closest Resident Evil entry would be the Resident Evil 2 remake, which should be hitting the 10 million mark in the very near future.

Resident Evil 7 is available for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC via Steam.
