Don Mancini’s “Chucky” Series Just Reintroduced a Classic Character from the Original ‘Child’s Play’

We’re now four episodes into Don Mancini‘s brand new “Chucky” series for USA and SYFY, and thus far the series has put the focus on fresh new characters including Zackary Arthur’s Jake Wheeler and Alyvia Alyn Lind’s Lexy Cross. The characters from the movies haven’t yet crossed over into the series, but we’ve been promised that they’re coming very soon.

In the meantime, last night’s episode of “Chucky,” titled “Just Let Go,” actually did feature a character from the original Child’s Play, presented as a fun little Easter Egg for fans!

At several points throughout “Just Let Go,” the episode touched upon Charles Lee Ray’s teenage years via flashbacks, focusing on his time spent at a boys home in the wake of his parents being murdered – while Charles’s father was knocked off by a serial killer, last week’s episode revealed to us that it was actually Charles himself who stabbed his mother to death.

Young Charles Lee Ray and Eddie Caputo in “Chucky”

Charles essentially takes a young friend under his wing in these flashback snippets from “Just Let Go,” not unlike the way the aforementioned serial killer introduced Charles himself to the world of serial murder. That young friend? Revealed in a line of dialogue that caps off the flashback sequence, teenage Charles Lee Ray’s friend was none other than Eddie Caputo!

Neil Giuntoli played Eddie Caputo in the 1988’s Child’s Play, Charles Lee Ray’s partner-in-crime. Long story short, Eddie eventually bails on Charles when the going gets tough, and Charles later – in the form of Chucky, the killer doll – gets his revenge on his former friend.

Thanks to “Just Let Go,” we now know how Charles and Eddie initially linked up, and we’ve also been given insight into the childhood and teenage years of Charles Lee Ray. And with characters such as Tiffany, Nica, and Andy being brought into the series in the coming weeks, we expect to see a lot more Easter Eggs and franchise callbacks for the diehard Chucky fans.

New episodes of “Chucky” premiere Tuesday nights on both USA and SYFY!

The Top 10 Streaming Scary Movies of Today (According to Netflix)

Given that Netflix really is the master of their own data, how many times a viewer streams The Ridiculous 6, or what films don't get watched all the way straight through, or how many times someone watches an episode of Bill Nye Saves the World, it was easy for them to come up with the list based on just one percentage: 70 percent.
