[Trailer] Stomp on Tokyo While Wrestling Kaiju With ‘Dawn of The Monsters’ in 2022

Old school gamers of kaiju mayhem remember SNK’s King of the Monsters games. While they weren’t the deepest fighters, they did give us the dream of battling other kaiju in one-on-one battles. We were subsequently spoiled with several other games in that style, notably Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee and its sequels, along with the Incognito Entertainment’s War of the Monsters.

So why am I telling you all of this? Well, 13AM Games and publisher WayForward have announced that their beat-’em-up Dawn of the Monsters will launch for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC via Steam in early 2022. Much like its predecessors, Dawn of the Monsters sees players take control of monsters in battles against other monsters. The story sees you using your chosen monster to take on the evil Nephilim, a horde of creatures looking to destroy Earth.

According to the preview by IGN, the game has four playable monsters for you to choose from, with the designs done by legendary Godzilla character creator Shiji Nishikawa and Godzilla comic book artist Matt Frank. Each kaiju has an array of attacks and finishing moves to battle over a dozen enemy types alongside the enemy kaiju. You can also customize your kaiju, and the game will support two player co-op across 35 missions.
