1941’s ‘Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde’ Coming to Blu-ray from Warner Archive

Academy Award winners Spencer Tracy and Ingrid Bergman star with Lana Turner in the 1941 adaptation of Robert Lewis Stevenson’s classic horror tale Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, and the Warner Archive Collection will be bringing the classic movie to Blu-ray this coming May.

Victor Fleming‘s Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde enters the Warner Archive Collection on May 17.

“Gentle Dr. Jekyll experiments with human nature, believing that each person has both good and evil sides that can be brought forth chemically. Jekyll tests a serum on himself, releasing his vicious alter ego, Mr. Hyde, on 19th-century London. Prowling the town, Hyde ventures to a music hall and encounters Ivy, whom he takes forcibly as his mistress. When the serum’s effects wear off, Jekyll vows never to take it again. But Hyde is not gone for good.”

The 1941 movie was nominated for three Academy Awards, including Best Cinematography (Black-and-White), Best Film Editing, and Best Music (Scoring of a Dramatic Picture).

This version of the classic 1886 novella came in the wake of the pre-code adaptation in 1931, which landed star Fredric March an Oscar win for Best Actor in a Leading Role.

You can pre-order your copy today.
