Capcom has once again updated their list of “Platinum Titles”, not only updating the list to reflect on the recent performance of the Resident Evil 2 remake, but also to give notice to other genre titles such as the Devil May Cry HD Collection and Monster Hunter.
As expected, Monster Hunter: World is still top dog for Capcom, as the game has sold over 18 million units since its launch back in 2018. What’s even more surprising is Monster Hunter: Rise, which launched in 2021, but has already cracked the 10 million units mark across the Nintendo Switch and PC.
Not to be outdone, Devil May Cry 5 continues to be the best-selling of the franchise, which now stands at 5.7 million units sold. The newest entry to the list of Platinum Titles is the Devil May Cry HD Collection, which has now cracked the one million unit mark with 1.1 million units sold across PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
Meanwhile, the Resident Evil 3 remake has added another 200,000 units sold to its lifetime total, which puts it at 5.4 million units overall since it launched in 2021. It’s still dwarfed by the Resident Evil 2 remake, which stands at 9.80 million units, and is still number two behind Resident Evil 7 as the highest-selling entry in the franchise.
And while it admittedly was a bit premature last time to say that Resident Evil Village would overtake Resident Evil 5‘s total by now, Village is still chugging away, having now sold 6.4 million units. Resident Evil 5 and its successor in Resident Evil 6 have now sold 8.3 million units each. One can expect Village‘s numbers to jump even more once the Gold Edition drops this October.
