Investigate the Aftermath of a Witch Hunt in ‘Witches of the New World’ [Trailer]

Horizontal Entertainment looks to tap into the dearth of video games that focus on the Salem Witch Trials with Witches of the New World. While no platforms have been announced as of yet, the game is planned for a 2025 release.

Described as having a mash-up of Survival Horror and Soulslike combat with RPG elements, Witches of the New World puts gamers in the heart of New England. You’ll be armed with your sword and flintlock pistol as you battle nightmarish creatures as Jedediah Hopkins, a witchfinder sent from England to the New World to investigate events in the aftermath of a witch hunt craze spread in Salem. After investigating the town and interviewing its inhabitants, Jedediah uncovers a conspiracy of cultists working on behalf of a witches’ sabbath seeking to take control of Salem and claim the townfolk’s souls.

“We believe this video game brings something new to the table,” explains William James, director of Witches of the New World. “Developed in Unreal Engine 5, Witches of the New World will introduce players into a time and place rarely explored in the industry: 17th century Anglo American colonies, and their inner conflicts.”

As mentioned, there’s currently no Steam page for the game (if it’s coming to Steam). But for the time being, you can head on over to Horizontal Entertainment’s website for more info on the game, or track it on Twitter.
