The psychological horror drama Broken Bird will receive a U.S. theatrical release starting April 24, through Catalyst Studios and Seismic Releasing, reports Deadline.
In Broken Bird, a lonely mortician with a poetic soul (Rebecca Calder) searches for love and belonging – but as grief and desire collide, her need for connection takes a disturbingly intimate turn.
The film features The Conjuring: Last Rites star Calder alongside James Fleet (Scream of the Wolf), and is directed by Joanne Mitchell.
Jay Taylor, Sacharissa Claxton (The Descent), and Robyn Rainsford (The Descent: Part 2) round out the cast.
Written by Dominic Brunt, Tracey Sheals, and Joanne Mitchell, Broken Bird is based on Mitchell’s short film Sybil and is produced by Zoe Stewart. Holly Levow, Mark Pennell, and Paul Kampf also produce.
“Joanne Mitchell has crafted a haunting and emotionally resonant film that stays with you long after the credits roll, and Rebecca Calder delivers a truly unforgettable performance,” said Holly Levow, Executive Lead and Co-Founder of Catalyst Studios.
