There’s a new Super Mario Bros. movie in theaters this weekend, and Charlie Day returns to voice Luigi.
Following the success of The Super Mario Bros. Movie, Nintendo and Illumination are expanding the franchise with The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, a sequel that takes the adventure to a larger, cosmic scale and explores new parts of the universe.
Could the planned expansion deliver us a Luigi’s Mansion movie?!
In an interview with ScreenRant, Charlie Day addressed the possibility of a Luigi’s Mansion adaptation, saying he “would be thrilled to do Luigi’s Mansion, just because it’s such a fun game.
“Not that you would make it like a horror movie for kids, but it could have some more sort of jump scares in it,” he joked.
Spanning 2001 to 2019, the Luigi’s Mansion series follows Luigi across three games as he explores haunted locations, captures ghosts with his vacuum, and rescues Mario from King Boo in a spooky, horror-filled journey.
