Let the Right One In director Tomas Alfredson is back with his latest drama, Seance on a Wet Afternoon, which will star Joe Alwyn (Hamnet, The Brutalist), Rachel Weisz (The Mummy, Constantine), and Matthew Macfadyen (Deadpool & Wolverine), reports Variety.
Seance on a Wet Afternoon follows “Myra, a self-proclaimed medium who convinces her husband Billy to kidnap the son of a wealthy family so she can lead the police to the ‘missing’ child and legitimize her psychic abilities,” its synopsis reads. “When Myra’s true intentions come to light, however, Billy realizes her plan threatens to consume them both.”
Principal photography is now underway in the U.K.
The film is based on Mark McShane’s 1961 novel, which was then made into a 1964 movie starring Kim Stanley and Richard Attenborough, and is penned by Adolescence co-creator and Emmy winner Jack Thorne.
The creatives on Seance on a Wet Afternoon include cinematographer Marcell Rév (Euphoria), BAFTA-winning production designer Jacqueline Abrahams (The Lobster), costume designer Sarah Blenkinsop (All of Us Strangers), Oscar-nominated hair and make-up designer Daniel Phillips (Victoria & Abdul) and casting director Jina Jay (The Night Manager).
