J.J. Abrams’ Bad Robot Productions Establishes New Game Studio Led by ‘Left 4 Dead’ Creator

It was only a matter of time before Bad Robot Games, a subsidiary of J.J. Abrams’ Bad Robot Productions film and television company, took another step into developing games. And what better way for the newly-announced Bad Robot Games Studio to make a splash than by announcing that the studio will be led by Turtle Rock Studios founder and Left 4 Dead creator Mike Booth?

VentureBeat reports that Bad Robot Games will now consist of two divisions: one to work on co-development deals with external partners (Bad Robot Games), and the other to make its own titles under Booth (Bad Robot Games Studio). Bad Robot Games Studio is already working on an original title for consoles and PC.

Bad Robot Games will also work with the film and television division to create games based on Bad Robot’s properties.

“We want to build worlds that are expansive, and can cross media but don’t necessarily start in film or TV,” said Anna Sweet, CEO of Bad Robot Games. “They could start as games. We just want to build big immersive worlds. We also want to build games that are as fun to watch as they are to play. Bad Robot has a long history of making things people love to watch. And so we want to bring that expertise to building games as well.”

So, begin your speculation as to what we’ll be seeing. A game based on the Cloverfield franchise? Lovecraft County?
