‘The Matrix Resurrections’ Trailer Heads Back Down the Rabbit Hole! [Video]

Lana Wachowski is back behind the camera for The Matrix Resurrections, the fourth film in the series that brings back both Neo (Keanu Reeves) and Trinity (Carrie-Anne Moss) – only they have amnesia and don’t remember the events of the initial trilogy.

After a few weeks of hype, Warner Bros. has finally offered up the first trailer that will take you back down the rabbit hole with an entirely new cast of characters played by Jada Pinkett Smith, Christina RicciPriyanka ChopraYahya Abdul-Mateen II, Jonathan Groff, Toby Onwumere, Eréndira Ibarra, Jessica Henwick and even Neil Patrick Harris.

Here’s the quick pitch: Neo is in therapy and doesn’t remember The Matrix. He runs into Trinity at a coffee shop…

One of the biggest complaints with the initial sequels was technology’s inability to keep up with the filmmakers’ innovative style of directing. Twenty years later, The Matrix Resurrections looks nothing short of spectacular, even if a bit of rehash (Neo and Trinity don’t know they’re in the Matrix, Neo takes the red pill, Neo unplugs and fights a younger Morpheus, Neo fully realizes his destiny).

The big question mark is, what’s the new spin that both modernizes it and gives the film a purpose? If anything, the concept is once again more relevant than ever.

The Matrix Resurrections is still slated to come out on December 22, most likely in theaters and on HBO Max.

Stop taking the blue pill and wake up…
