‘Friday the 13th: A New Beginning’ Star Carol Locatell Has Passed Away

Known to horror fans for her role in Friday the 13th: A New Beginning, Bloody Disgusting has learned the sad news this week that Carol Locatell has passed away at the age of 82.

Carol Locatell played Ethel (aka Ma) in the Friday the 13th franchise’s fifth installment back in 1985, becoming a fan favorite star on the horror convention circuit in recent years.

Sean Clark writes on Instagram, “Just got a call from Ron Sloan letting me know that our friend Carol Locatell who most of the fans know as Ethel aka Ma in Friday the 13th Part 5 A New Beginning has lost her battle with cancer. My heart goes out to her husband Greg and their entire family.

Clark’s tribute continues, “I had the great fortune of working with her for 15+ years and she was an amazing person. She was supposed to appear at Spookala in Florida in December 2002 and CreepieCon in February 2003. She found out about the cancer just before Spookala and I remember her calling me and apologizing for having to cancel. That’s the kind of person she was. She was more worried about disappointing me and the fans first. As she started treatment she really hoped she could make it to CreepieCon as it was a local show that she could drive to and she hung on to that hope right up until before the show but just didn’t have the energy to do it. She was a fighter and fought hard. I will miss her dearly. Rest easy my friend.”

Carol Locatell’s 70+ acting credits also include the films Coffy, Thunder County, Yesterday’s Child, Sammy, Paternity, Sharky’s Machine, The Bad Seed, The Daytrippers, Bug, The Family Stone, Bound by a Secret, Reality, and most recently, Friday the 13th fan film 13 Fanboy.

On the small screen, Locatell appeared on countless shows including “McCloud,” “Bonanza,” “Mannix,” “Emergency!”, “M*A*S*H,” “Growing Pains,” “ER,” “7th Heaven,” “Saved by the Bell: The New Class,” “Ally McBeal,” “Touched by an Angel,” and “Grey’s Anatomy.”

The Top 10 Streaming Scary Movies of Today (According to Netflix)

Given that Netflix really is the master of their own data, how many times a viewer streams The Ridiculous 6, or what films don't get watched all the way straight through, or how many times someone watches an episode of Bill Nye Saves the World, it was easy for them to come up with the list based on just one percentage: 70 percent.
